Dear Charley
I am happy to say that I received your long looked for letter and glad to hear you were all well as thanks be to Almighty God this leaves me at the Present. I see by your letter that you have had Mother to see you, which gives me the satisfaction to think you do not entirely neglect our poor old home. With regards to Bob I think myself that it will be better for him to go back and Serves his time out but I should advise not consent to Stoy longer than the original time he was bound for and not to pull up back time. I am glad you acknowledge your neglect in not writing to my poor unfortunate wife, now Just consider if your own darling was situated for two years, in the anxiety of mind mine must have been in, and you ask me to write occasionally, do you think I would have neglected it, no Charley, I should have done all in my power to Comnfort my brothers wife, by writing at least. I am glad to say she was well and comfortablew when I received her last letter I suppose you will have John and William Home by this time you must send my best lovew to them and congratulate them in having a Brother and Officer for I must now tell you that I have left the Artillery and have been Commissioned, "Adjutant" to the Land Transport Corp, and I am at present temporary attached to the 5 Battalion L.T.C. and Stationed Close beside my old Battery. so now my boy what do you think of your wish of Tom you see tis all Complete except the being Homne, which is not unlikely now, as the Allied Generals met the Russian Commander in Chief 3 days back and signed an Armistice to the end of the present month. I was Commissioned on the 21st February and joined my new Corps on the 1st March, my birth day Month so you see that by being a good Soldier & etc at the age of 26 I have became an Officer and above all al Adjutant, the most responsible one in a Battalion under the Commanding Officer - My pay I beleave is 14/- a day, and I shall receive £150 fior an outfit. I have managed to get a fine suit so as to give myself Some appearance of the Gentleman, so I shall not go to much expense if possible before i know whether there will be peace or war, if peace I shall wait till I get Home.
It is no use my telling you to write to Ann and Georgina because I know you wont or cant do it so I mnust beg of you to write to me and always beleave me to be the Same affectionate Brother Tom as usual.
